Our Farm is old. You can't say enough about old houses and the treasures that are
uncovered when you least expect it. Every decision that we make includes some thought into
the people and life that was here before.
We are dedicated to local farm promotion and natural production.
Our Farm is tended by:
- Rhonda and Scott Barnhart - Farm Owners:
Married since 1993, Rhonda and Scott have lived in several states before settling in historic Virginia.
Farming, a capital intensive endeavor, requires Scott to work off the farm while Rhonda works and manages
the animals during the day.
- Jonah, Emma, Jake, and Sam Barnhart - Farm Helpers:
Our children assist in all facets of farming and chores in hopes that someday they look back and realize the
education and structure they were given. As such, for the moment, they complain a lot!
- Tony Angel - Farm Manager and Partner:
A true blessing to have another adult there to help manage the farm. Even though our farm is small
compared to others it still requires constant attention. Tony shares our vision and is truly appreciated. His
entire family has been of great support to our shared way of life.
About Our Farm
Scott and Tony prepping wood for Pleasant Hill's
fires. Although Pleasant Hill has an oil boiler in the
basement with steam radiant heat she still warms
well with two rebuilt stainless steel fireplaces and
one centrally located wood stove on a thimble flue.
Two additional fireplaces are yet to be rebuilt.
Average wood consumption is eight cords of wood
and 500 gallons of oil per cold season.
